Ms. Rodriguez graduated from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Spanish and a minor degree in Dance. She earned her Masters of Arts degree in Early Childhood Development from National University. Ms. E. Rodriguez currently holds a cleared Multiple Subject Credential with a BCLAD certification (Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language Academic Development). She has taught second grade for five years and first grade for 5 years ( 2 of those years as the Dual Language Class) at NEW Academy Canoga Park.
This year Ms. E. Rodriguez is teaching the third grade Dual Language Academy class at NACP. She has collaborated as a Lead Teacher for the first grade team, a dance teacher for the Dancing Dolphins after school Club, and has been a presenter at the California Charter Conference. She is a current member of the California Association of Bilingual Education (CABE). Ms. E. Rodriguez has been trained in peer Observational Protocol for Academic Literacies (OPAL), as well as certification to teach academic Spanish grades K-12 from Loyola Marymount University.
Ms. Herrmann is a 2005 founding teacher at N.E.W Academy Canoga Park. She has a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Human Development: Child Emphasis, obtained through California State University, San Bernardino, where she also received her K-12 Multiple-Subject Teaching and CLAD credential. Ms. Herrmann has been teaching elementary school since 2000 with the majority of her time spent in third grade. She previously served as a BTSA mentor for beginning teachers through LACOE. She has certifications in outdoor education and experiential learning; and GATE.
Ms. Hermann is very proud of her involvement with Whole Brain Teaching that is based on brain-friendly techniques using active student engagement. She has presented workshops on their powerful teaching and classroom management tools; and technology in the classroom; at the National and California Charter School Conferences. Recently she received her certification in Teaching English as a Second Language through Oxford University at UCLA (2011) and completed her Master’s Degree in K-12 Literacy through San Diego State University.
Mrs. Reeve graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Language and Diversity from Cal State University Northridge in 2007. She received her CLAD: Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State Northridge in 2008. She joined our teaching staff in 2008 and has continued to teach third grade since that time.
Mrs. Reeve brings a wealth of knowledge in the teaching of arts and crafts; and uses her talents in dance to teach students in our Dancing Dolphins performance group. She is thrilled to part of such an amazing team at NEW Academy Canoga Park and is looking forward to another wonderful and exciting year in 3rd grade.
Mrs. Yates graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2006 with a teaching credential and her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. In 2011 she graduated from California State University Northridge with a Master’s degree in Language and Literacy as well as a Reading Specialist Credential.
Before coming to NEW Academy, Mrs. Yates taught 5 years in LAUSD, kindergarten for 3 years and second grade for 2 years. Mrs. Yates loves teaching and is very excited about teaching third grade. In her free time she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and creating great memories with friends and family.
