What is distance learning?
We are asking our staff to create opportunities for students to continue to engage in learning from home during this closure. We do not expect to replace school or even match instruction hour for hour, we just want to extend an opportunity for our students to stay connected, create some normalcy and combat isolation.
Does my student have to be available to learn 8:30am-3:00pm everyday? What are the expectations?
No. Distance Learning is being designed so that time can be used flexibly, with a morning check-in time every day. Your teacher will inform you the time these meetings will take place.
Will digital learning results be part of grading?
Distance learning is a focus on extending the opportunity to learn and stay connected to our school community. We are working with teachers to develop our protocols, however we would like to reduce the focus on grading to reduce anxiety and create equity while our students are in this time of transition.
What if my student doesn’t have access to the internet or a chrome book?
NACP will provide one device for your family/household to borrow this. We will provide a list of companies offering free internet to families. Any family who needs support with access to a device is asked to respond to the survey sent out by the teacher. NACP will provide one device per household this Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Please let your child’s teacher know before 12:00pm on Wednesday so we can have your family’s device ready for pick up.
Please note that you will be asked to sign an Loan Device User Agreement before receiving a device. The device will need to be returned once school is back in session.
